No Pants Babies

So, there's something new happening in our house.  Our toddler has reached the phase where she's decided she doesn't need to wear her pants or underwear.

Luckily, this has only been happening at home, and only at night or when she's taking a nap.

Hopefully, she doesn't try doing this at preschool during nap time too!

All kids seem to go through a phase where they want to be naked.  Dana Carvey had a routine where he talked about his kids having a dedicated "nakey time" just so they could get it out of their system.

So far, she hasn't had the desire to run around when friends are visiting, (except after taking a bath, but that's another post) and we aren't really being strict on her about it.

In another post, I talked about how she had regressed: Pooping her pants and needing diapers again.  Lately, she's been going to the potty on her own, even at night! But, she still needs help sometimes getting her pants back on.  At first, we just thought that she was getting better at using the potty on her own, and didn't want to bother us late at night to help her with her pants.  We had told her not to come out of her room until either the sun went up, or her alarm clock went off because she had developed a nasty habit of climbing into our bed around 3 or 4 in the morning.

So now, we'll go to her room and either check on her, or wake her up to get ready for school.  What we see when we open the door is a kid completely asleep face down, with her bare butt up in the air!

My wife says her butt is like a cute little pumpkin.

Because she hasn't completely mastered the control of her bladder at night, she goes to sleep with a diaper on.  We are not looking forwards to finding her in the morning with her butt in the air, and soaked sheets.

Mornings are already tough enough without having to add a bath into the mix!

What I've been telling her is that she needs to keep her pants on when she is sleeping.  Otherwise, she might get cold.  If she gets cold, then she might get sick, and if she gets sick, she can't go to school to play with her friends!

My wife tells her that if she doesn't keep her butt covered, snakes will bite it.

That should do the trick.  If it doesn't, I'll have another use for Duct tape.
